It must be nice to be twelve...

My twelve-year-old daughter and her friend have become obsessed with movies.  They visit the cinema as much as possible and spend hours watching DVD's at each others houses, including a few things neither set of parents would have let them see.   They really are sneaky these kids.

This is what she has had to say about the movies she has watched recently. (obtained as the result of espionage activity by her Da).

  • Terminator Salvation – Moon Bloodgood has the coolest name in the world.  Very confusing film though.
  • Seven Swords (Chinese movie) – Good fights, I liked the Goth girl with the weird sword.  Wish it wasn’t sub-titled. (She was playing with my Samurai Sword in the garden after this, then I looked out the window and that all ended very quickly)
  • Transformers 2:  Really cool.  I liked the old robot who was falling apart.  (She spent most of the time texting her friend telling her who else was in the cinema.  Only looking up for the fights.  I had to sit through this with her.  Very spectacular but the plot was laughable, as expected)
  • Alien.  I thought this was supposed to be scary!  The only good bit was when the robot was killed.  I think the robot was Bilbo.
  • X-Men 2 – Not enough Wolverine.  Does Scott get killed in the third one Dad?  I hate Scott, he’s boring.  (I did not say a word to her, honest)
  • Troy – I only really liked Orlando Bloom.
  • Underworld - Not as good as it could have been, should have been a big battle between the vampires and the were-wolves.  An army of vampires fighting an army of werewolves would have been so cool.
  • Final Destination 1, 2 and 3 – Sooooo coooool.
  • King Kong – It was too long and a bit random. (She cried at the end, she denied it, but she cried)

I’m not sure her judgement is all that sound on movies.  While she does regard Lord of the Rings as the best movie ever made, her vote for Van Helsing as the next best is a bit questionable.
